DCOWA BOARD

Bridget Federspiel has served as the Youth Coordinator for the Dayton Council on World Affairs since 2008. She
joined the social studies faculty at Stivers High School for the Arts in the Dayton Public Schools in 2002, and since that time she has been recognized repeatedly as an outstanding teacher.

DeAnn is an administrator at Sinclair CC

Heather Atkinson has been DCOWA Secretary since 2020. Heather is a Foreign Affairs Specialist for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) where she facilitates collaboration with international partners. Heather also has an extensive professional arts background.

Karla is Senior Mgr of Asset Mgmnt at Greater Dayton Premier Management

Sangita is Director of Campus Engagement at University of Dayton.

Carolyn Rice has served on the DCOWA for more than a decade. She has served 3 terms as President and currently serves as Chair of the Membership Committee. She served as Montgomery County Treasurer (2007-2018) and is now a Montgomery County Commissioner.

Deborah Gavlik currently serves as the Director of International Education at Sinclair Community College. She has also served as an Executive Director at the Ohio Board of Regents/

Ileana Marin served the DCOWA Board from 2007-2012 and returned in 2020. She has been affiliated with the Kettering Foundation since 1994, working on democracy and civil society development, civic engagement and capacity building, civic journalism, environmental studies, and notions of leadership.

Nancy is Director of Development for the non-partisan Business for America and teaches Fundraising and Women, Democracy and Global Politics at GW's Graduate School of Political Management.

Dr. Vaughn Shannon is Professor of political science at Wright State University's School of Public & International Affairs, and directs the MA Program in International & Comparative Politics. He also serves as Faculty Adviser for WSU's award-winning Model UN program.

Charles is an educator at Sinclair Community College

Derek is Chair of the Department of Humanities, Government and Modern Languages at Sinclair Community College. He is a Professor of Modern Languages and has been a Board member of DCOWA since 2016. He was elected President in 2022.

Josh is Procurement and Program Manager at WPAFB, and instructor at Sinclair and Wright State University.

Dr. Pramod K. Kantha is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. He teaches courses on Democratic Transitions, Politics of Nationalism, Politics of South Asia, US-India-Af-Pak relations.
